Hi, I'm Rodney Cutler, stylist and salon owner, and we're going to help you keep that dyed black hair looking shiny. So dyed black hair is a very distinct looking color. But there's definitely a few techniques and I can share with you to make the shine come through. So whether your hair's naturally shiny or not, very very simple tools and techniques to add that shine so it reflects more light. So to achieve the shine we're looking for, it starts with the brush, the blow dryer with the nozzle and the finishing product for that boost of extra shine. I'm going to use Redken Shine Flash 02. So the blow drys really quite simple. But it's a really important step in creating that shine on the hair. So the first thing you need to do is just section off the hair so you're not dealing with too much hair at once. I always like to start on the underneath. We want to get the hair dry on the underneath. If you don't, what can happen, it can bubble from the inside out, and you wont to create as much shine. Once you've got your section, I like to use a round brush with natural ball bristles, and a blend of nylon. What that will do, it will create a nice tension where the hair interlocks in the bristles, and you'll create the tension, which will create that smooth polish to the hair. Now when we hit the hair with the air, we want to make sure that the air is coming from roots to end. That will seal the cuticle, create smoothness, and add extra shine to the hair. So we follow the brush with the air, and then let it cool down. What that will do, it will give you a longer lasting effect and extra shine. Work your way up the head section by section, with the same technique. Now you'll see that the nozzle is not sitting right on the hair, 'cause we do not want to over-dry the hair. Follow the brush, let it sit on the hair, remove it, and you'll create that nice soft shine and finish to the hair. So already you can see, great blow dry, beautiful color, perfect technique and then finishing with a little bit of shine spray, just to boost that extra shine that you're looking for. Apply it with your hands if you like. Run it through. You can see just by running the product through, how much extra shine it gives, but it's important, as I said before, to get that base with that beautiful blow dry, which will seal the cuticle polish, and you're good to go. So there you have it. Salon-looking hair that you can achieve at home. It's really really easy with these techniques. So that's how you keep dyed black hair looking shiny. I'm Rodney Cutler, and thank you for watching.
