Celebrity Hairstylist David Dang showing you home remedies for dry curly hair. There's a lot of myths out there in what you need to use at home and what you don't need to use at home, what's in products and what's not in products. There's so many things shoved down our throats that I'm going to clear some stuff up for you and what they're going to be used as our home remedies and what we're going to be using is our L'Oreal Paris EverSleek Reparative Smoothing Conditioner. There's a lot of home remedies out there but I'm going to tell you some of the things that I've used on some of my clients and here Bianca has nice defined curls as you can see but they're just a little bit dry and what I use at home and what I recommend to my clients is something called olive oil. What did I say? Yeah, it's olive oil. Now a lot of you are going what I'm going to put oil on oil, that sucks. No, what we're going to be using is olive oil only for mids to ends. Again, you've heard me say it before I never put anything in the scalp just from mids to ends. Olive oil has a natural vitamin E source in it and olive oil nicely when you put it in your hand it nicely smooths the hair and acts as a nice anti-humectant, again, that's an anti-humectant and it causes no frizz but actually tames your curls and defines it, that's olive oil. Now there's also something that you probably seen on TV shows, maybe true or not true but I have used it. It's adding eggs and mayonnaise together. Eggs are a source of protein and protein is a great source for hair so I'll add a little bit of olive oil, some eggs and mayonnaise together. I'll beat them and swirl them around and then I'll put them on as a mask and that is used as a home remedy as far as masks are concerned. A little bit of olive oils, some eggs for protein and some mayo to nicely smooth the hair. And what you want to use next is a blow dryer. There's a lot of myths with blow dryers too. Now a lot of people just with shorter hair just blow dry all over the place. You don't want to do that especially for dry, curly hair. As you can see Bianca's hair, she has a little bit of frizz and that's maybe because I've controlled it already through a blow dry. When you blow dry your hair and using a diffuser you want to blow with gravity and not against it and what that means is blow drying your hair with gravity and not against it. Once again, that's blow drying with gravity and not against it because when you're doing that it's just flying all over the place making it all frizzy and giving that extra volume that girls who have curly hair and men too, girls who have curly hair and men who have curly hair don't want it to be just a puff ball. They want it to be maintained and under control frizzed. So again that's with gravity and not against it. Next one I'm going to talk to you about is some conditioner and shampoos. Now when you shampoo you definitely want to use something that's sulfate free, sodium chloride free and paraben free, and the reason why I tell you this is because it's stripping of the hair and it causes you to strip the natural oils from the hair. Once again, shampooing every other day helps to maintain natural oils in the hair. You can use a wide tooth comb to go ahead and from roots to ends every other day downward to spread evenly throughout the hair the natural oils that are made everyday. On an everyday basis you see that you might have some dry hair from like overheating or maybe just using the curling iron too much or defining your curl that you don't really, really want and it causes that dryness at the ends, the tips, the mids to ends and you want to do something that's called a mask. Now I've talked to you before about olive oil, protein added with eggs and mayo to create your own home remedy but what we have is our own mask. Now this mask is very easy to use, Bianca showered first and then she towel dried her hair giving it some dampness still left and then she used a mask. So this mask is only used once again throughout the entire hair through mids and ends, less is more but with the mask you want to use just a little bit more. The right amount would probably be about that much. Now once you use that said amount you use it on the mids to ends, remember nothing on the scalp because your scalp is already producing the natural oils go ahead and tie it up with a hair tie or clip it in with a hair clip. Then you're going to put a cap on and then you're going to go ahead and continue with your shower routine, loofah it up or just wash your body or do whatever you do, brush your teeth and then it's going to work with the natural heat coming from your head especially from the cap basically enclosing all the heat. Now after that's done, 5 to 10 minutes depending on how long you want it in there, go ahead and rinse that out thoroughly, remember rinse it with lukewarm water to warmer, warmer water because that conditioner is thick, it's definitely needs to work through and it needs to be washed out because that's where that it gets too heavy and it's all flowing down and you don't want those like straggly looking curls. So once again you just shower it up and then come out, blow dry with gravity not against it for the frizz and you have great hair. And there you have it that's some good old home remedies for you for dry curly hair. This is David Dang, celebrity hairstylist, I'll catch you here next time.
