- Hi, my name is Taylor Babaian. I'm a celebrity makeup artist and today I'm going to show you how to apply black lipstick. So one of the tricks I learned on set was to create this dark lip look was to use black eyeliner with a dark lipstick to create a beautiful edgy look. So for that look today we're going to be using L'Oreal Paris Hip Studio Secrets Eyeliner. So I'm going to take my dark red shade and first apply my black eyeliner and you're just going to do kind of like jagged short strokes. The reason for this is you don't want to get too much color on there because it will just be too opaque black. So we're just going to do short strokes. I like to create a V when I'm working with dark colors and then we're just going to create some jagged lines and then we're just going to kind of fill it in with a little bit of dark and you're going to basically use your lip color to kind of uniform everything out. So now we're going to take our dark red lip color and we're basically going to blend it all together and you can see it's creating this like really beautiful deep almost like red black look. We're basically just kind of connecting everything together. We don't want to go over the line because you don't want it to have like a big dark outline and you don't have to use red. You could use like a dark plum if you have, if that's easier for you. I think this is really important as opposed to just using like a straight black lip color because it does add a little bit of prettiness to it. So we're just still continuing our application mixing in the black jagged lip liner and the red lip color and as you can see this is the red that we started off with and it really does kind of melt into the black liner. So when you're actually using this kind of dark lip color we're creating this like really edgy wine. I love this look actually on pale skin and then of course pair it with a really neutral eye and I'm just going to keep continuing to add a little bit more of the red in there just to create a little bit more softness, make sure that I don't see any of that black coming through. So I've finished adding my red lipstick to my black lip liner and then I finished it off with a little bit of a pink cheek just to add a little bit of life to the look and you can see it creates this beautiful edgy look. So I did use the red to kind of compliment her auburn hair. You can also use a plum or a purple so that it's not just exactly black but it does have that really almost black undertone. So there you have it. That's how you apply black lipstick. My name is Taylor Babaian. Thanks for watching.
