- Hi, I'm Jessica Liparoto, celebrity hair stylist, and today, I'm going to show you how to do a hairstyle for an over-the-shoulder dress. So Emily's dress today is a little more simple on one side. So, we're going to create a little more drama on her bare shoulder. We're just going to use a few simple things, a 1 inch curling iron, a brush, a comb, small bobby pins, large bobby pins and some hair spray. The hair spray is L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hair Spray in extra strong hold. So, to start off our look, I'm going to brush back her part. Now I'm going to give her a very defined side part. Now to create a little bit of drama, we're going to put in a loose braid, and it's all going to gather on this side. You can make this as tight or as loose as you want, but I'm going to make mine kind of loose. So, I'm just going to continue my braid until it gets all the way around, and this way it's off your neck, so you don't have to worry about frizzing underneath, or if you have naturally curly hair, it's not going to curl up on you. I've already pre-curled Emily's hair with a 1 inch curling iron. You can do this look on straight hair, naturally curly hair. I think it's best with a little bit of wave. So now that we're about to finish up the braid, I'm going to pin it up underneath with one of my larger bobby pins. So now that we've secured our braid, we'll bring her back to the front, and you can leave this look as is, it's very secure, it's not going to go anywhere. Or, if you're a little bit nervous we can always just pin up this side right here for a little extra support. Take your small bobby pin, hide it in the hair. So what I love about this look is it creates perfect symmetry. You have the drama of the one shoulder on this side, and perfect elegance on this side. It really balances each other out. And there you go. It's a beautiful hairstyle for over the shoulder dress. I'm Jessica Liparoto, thank you for watching.
