- Celebrity hair stylist David Dang here, showing you how you can do a flipped shagged hairstyle. The flipped shag hairstyle has been done many times. And to achieve that look, we're going to show you how to do it in one-two-three steps. What we're going to use is our curling iron, comb, clips, and texturizer. The texturizer we'll be using today is our L'Oreal Paris Studio Line Out of Bed texturizer. As you can see, Anna here has shorter hair, but the flip and the shag can be done on any type of length, and so we're going to be showing you how we can do it on the shorter bob. Okay? So, to get started, we'll go ahead and section the hair off. Remember start at the sectioning of the crown area and back of the ear. Like this. Next, what you're going to do is you're going to section your piece out. We'll section her piece out, clip that up, hold it taught, and then we'll use some hairspray. Now the hairspray is used to hold the hair in place, and also as a heat protectant too. Very versatile. Then use your curling iron, go and curl, and curl away from the face. Hold it for a couple seconds, and then move down. And as you can see, the curls are starting to produce away from the face. Gravity is not our friend, and that's why we're really away from the face to get that flip. Go ahead and repeat this step all the way up. As you can tell, I've already curled all her hair, and so her hair is flipping out in the back, flipping out in the front. It's all going away from the face. It looks like a little hot mess, but don't you worry, it's going to be like a good flip. So what we're going to do is we're going to ask Anna to put her head back, right there, and then we're going to shuz it out a little bit. Spray for the hold. Run your hands through it. Perfect. And voila, the flip. Now, once we have this flip, we're going to go ahead and take some of our texturizing cream, just a little bit, and run it through. Nothing too much on the scalp. Just, more or less, off the scalp, giving it that volume, that shag that we're looking for, and she looks great. She looks like she should put a pair of roller skates on. Alright, there it is.
