Hi, I'm Caile Noble, celebrity hairstylist and today I'm going to show you how to flatiron dry hair. The key ingredient to flatironing dry hair is to make sure you're using a product. This product needs to be a thermal protectant, whether it be a spray or a serum, something that's going to offer protection for your already dry hair against this heat tool. You're going to need combs. I prefer a tail comb, some clips if needed and a flatiron and then of course, your product. Today we're going to use the Garnier Fructis, Sleek and Shine Flatiron Perfecter Straightening Mist. This product is key because we have dry hair and we want to protect it while straightening. So make sure that you kind of go throughout the hair making sure that it's broken up and when you do apply the spray, not going right in at the root or at the shaft but just literally spritzing the product on so that it's not over saturating the hair. You literally just want the hair to be spritzed with the product so that it gets on the hair and then allowing the iron to do its work. Now one thing you've got to make sure to do is, be sure to get the underneath as well. Just spritzing the top isn't going to be enough to protect the whole head entirely. Be sure to section the hair off and just give it a little spritz. And throughout the hair, just kind of breaking it up in two, underneath, on the top. Once you go through the whole hair, then you'll be ready to start your straightening. Do know that if you have thicker hair or different hair types, that may require more or less product depending on what you have. What I like to do when ironing the hair is I like to just go through and make sure that I'm taking sections. Now you can work it a few different ways but maybe what's easier for you to do at home is just take, pull the hair back into a pony like style, sectioning off the bottom so that you have just a little hairline at the nape, take your clip, clip your hair away and then pull your hair around in front of you. That way you have an nice clean section to work with. Now what you're going to want to do is go in at this section and remembering the key points, making sure that you keep a nice consistent stroke from roots to ends and not stopping in. Now one last tip that I want to give you is very end of the hair, it's good to just kick your wrist slightly so that it creates a little bevel. That way your hair is not stick straight and unnatural. Because your hair is dry it's very crucial that you don't leave the heat on the hair too long because it's more likely to bend or become brittle if there's too much heat applied. So make sure that it's a nice even consistent flow, quickly with that stroke so it creates a nice straight hair. It's very important that you have the product and you're applying it before the ironing. Now, if you notice when you're ironing the hair, if the hair still seems a little brittle and dry, maybe you need to go in and apply some more at that time. If your hair tends to be curlier than our model, Elaina's, you're going to want to make sure that you go through maybe two strokes versus one. Obviously I'm saying less heat is better but you want to make sure that you're effectively straightening the hair. So if you have curl, it may take one more glide with the iron to achieve the look. We're just going to go through in this last section and give you guys an idea of where we're at. As you can see, we have one side that's sleek and shiny and the other side that's dry and untamed. I'm going to continue and I'll show you the final product. With the final product you'll be able to see that the hair lacks dryness now. It's sleek, shiny and frizz-free all because of the technique that we've used and also because of the product. And that's how you flatiron dry hair. I'm Caile Noble. Thank you for watching.
