Hi, I'm Jeremy Clark, professional hairstylist and salon owner. And I'm going to talk to you about how to fix hair breakage. One of the best ways that you have to fix damaged hair is to use a conditioner and a shampoo that has some sort of protein in them to help strengthen and bond those split ends back together. And to help protect the hair from splitting more. Another thing that' good to do is to let the hair rest in between styling. Thermal styling can add to split ends and breakage. For a shampoo you want to use something like the Garnier Fructis Moisture Works Shampoo. And it's a shampoo that will really moisturize the hair and moisturizing the hair will help protect it from more breakage. It will actually strengthen the hair and it will help the hair retain it's elasticity. You want to pay attention to the type of brush that you use. It's important to use a vented brush that has a lot of room between the teeth. You never want to use a small tooth comb. And you really want to pay attention to how you're brushing. You want to start at the bottom where the damage and the knots are and work your way up to the top. You never want to start at the top and just rip your way through. And the other thing that's good to keep in mind is you want to brush the tangles out when your hair is dry. Because if the hair is wet it can stretch a lot more and you can actually rip through the hair and break it a lot easier when it's wet. Another good way to fix breakage in your hair is to use a deep protein mask and there are several of these on the market. But something that has a lot of protein in it that can really enrich the hair and really strengthen it. And it's also important to make sure that it's moisturizing as well. You never want to use protein just by itself but always moisturize in addition to. Another thing that you might try to prevent or help fix your damaged hair is sleeping on a silk pillow instead of cotton. Cotton actually absorbs all the moisture out of your hair whereas silk doesn't. And it will prevent static and it's softer and gentler on the hair. One last thing to remember when you're trying to fix damaged hair or grow out split ends, it's important to keep a light trim on the ends. And by light trim I mean just an eight of an inch to a sixteenth of an inch. It doesn't have to be a half inch or an inch because usually you are trying to grow your hair. So just keeping a really light trim on the bottom will help your hair actually grow past that point where it's breaking. So there's some tips that you can do at home to help fix hair breakage. I'm Jeremy Clark thanks for watching.
