Hi, I'm Spencer Barnes, celebrity makeup artist. Today, I'm going to talk to you about how to choose eye shadow colors for pale blond or platinum hair when you have blue eyes. To start out I'm going to choose an eye shadow palette that is rich in brown tones, neutrals, some of these beautiful golden bronze tones. It's the Maybelline Expert Eyewear in Chocolate. You'll notice this palette has a series of rich colors. There's a pale kind of champagne golden color. There's this beautiful bronzy tone which really has a nice bit of sheen to it, a neutral shading tone and then a deep chocolate. That would be perfect at the lash line. So let's get started. I'm going to use a broad brush to use this pale base all the way across her lid, under her brow, in the corner here to give some highlights and this color will help neutralize the lid and give a little bit of a base as well as some sheen and some light reflecting off the lid. Do the same thing over here. So don't be afraid to really pack this color on. It's very soft and neutral and it will give you a beautiful base to build upon. Alright so we've got this neutral base on first. Now we're going to move into this secondary color, this bronzy tone. This is perfect for right on the lid, close to the lash line. It's got a lot of beautiful bronze richness, beautiful for blue eyes. I'm using a soft tapping motion. That will help keep the product from flicking everywhere and dropping down under the eye and it will just push it right into place. These golden tones, these bronzy tones are really beautiful with blue eyes because they really complement not only the skin and the hair but they also create a lot of light around the eyes. They help pop it without being too much of a contrast. If you were across from blue on the color wheel you have orange and right next to it is yellow and bronze is sort of a warm golden orangy yellow tone and that's why it really helps the blue eyes pop. Next I'm going to move into this crease color. It's a neutral taupy brown, perfect for shadowing the crease area of the eye. I'm using a soft round brush that has a nice kind of a firm tip. This gives me a lot more control and I can place it right where I want it, right in the crease. If you're not sure where to find your crease, go ahead and tip your chin back and look down your nose into the mirror and then when you drop your head and you'll notice when your eyes are up facing the mirror, go ahead and look in the camera, you'll see the crease forms right in there and that's where you're going to put the shadowing for a crease. That will highlight the natural shadow of your crease. I'm going to use that same color underneath her eye so that she has sort of like a liner but more of a haze so it's not as harsh. So I'll just have her look up and I'll come right under with that same brush and come underneath the eyes. If you wanted a cleaner softer look, you could keep the under eye with nothing there and just do mascara. See I'm going to do a little more definition with the soft nutty brown. But I want to get a little more bold so I'm going to come back to this bronzy gold color and just do a little bit right in the center of the eye here. This will give us just a little more pop and really catch and pick up on that blue color of her eyes which is so beautiful. Alright so for a finishing step I'm going to use this liner color, this dark color right at her lash line on the top. So I'll have her look down and I'll come right up by the lashes. If you wanted it to be even more intense, you could start with a creamy coal pencil and then come in with a shadow and smudge it into the pencil. That would give you an even deeper more intense look. We're going to do the shadow and that's all today. Okay, see how we're building the intensity right at the lash line? That will help intensify the appearance of the lashes and give a nice finished kind of crisp eye line. We've just finished her eye shadows. You can see that the color is all blended and complete. I would recommend finishing with a little sweep of mascara under the eyes and then brushing out through the top lash and that will just sort of give it a finished crisp look. So that is how to choose eye shadow for platinum blond hair and blue eyes. I'm Spencer Barnes and thanks for watching.
