- Hi, I'm Tara Shakespeare, celebrity makeup artist. Today, I'm going to show you what eyeshadow color to use for dark eyes. When you have dark eyes, like Emily, the best thing to do is use a really strong, vibrant eye color, and maybe something metallic. And again, keeping it within your same color tones as your skin and your hair. To create the look on Emily today, I'm going to be using L'Oreal's Studio Secrets Metallic Eyeshadow. So to start with, I'm going to take the copper color out, this eyeshadow duo, and apply it all over Emily's lid, using an eyeshadow brush, but a thin one. What we're actually going to do is a smoky eye, but just keeping it within the socket, just over on the eyelid. You can.. if you just look up for me. Just look straight ahead. You can see, Emily's, the natural shape of Emily's eye. And just close.. I'm going to follow that line. And this is a stronger look for going out in the evening. So, we've paired it with a lighter lip color. When applying a strong eyeshadow, you really want to choose over a stronger eyeshadow or a stronger lip color. And then making sure we get shadow right up to the eyelash line as well. So, the color I'm using is very close to Emily's hair color, which is perfect. And when the metallic color's in it, it really pops. So, you can see, I've just applied it just to the socket lines and over the lid, keeping a very neat.. you don't want to take anything higher than that because it will become too over dramatic. So, as you can see we've applied shadow all over the eyelid, and that made quite a strong line. So, I'm going to take a clean blending brush and just soften that line, then just blending that out in little circular motions. You really don't want any of the product to go any higher. So, it's just to make it a little bit more softer and really working that brush in the crease. OK. You can close your eyes. So you can see how that softened it. And just to make it a little more dramatic and to balance out the color on the top of the lid, I'm going to apply just a small amount on the underneath and just in the corner, again keeping it quite close to the lash line, so only taking it about a third of the way into the line. So, this helps to frame the eye and to give a little accentuation underneath the bottom. And there you have it. That's how to use eyeshadow for dark eyes. I'm Tara Shakespeare. Thanks for watching.
