- Hi I'm Ashlie Johnson, celebrity manicurist, and today I'm going to give you some easy nail polish techniques. So with everyone's busy schedules finding time to paint your nails isn't always the easiest thing. But if you keep a few simple tricks in mind it will make the process a whole lot smoother. So to demonstrate these techniques I've chosen Essie's Power Clutch. Technique number one to remember is not to shake your polish but to roll it. This helps avoid air bubbles in the polish that could then lead to chipping. So the best technique that I've found for applying polish is usually in about two or three swipes covers the whole nail and it makes it really smooth. You don't want to put too much polish on the brush because then it won't dry as quickly. Another helpful technique is to make sure after your swipes you do a little stealing swipe at the tip of the free edge to help your polish last longer and if you have any little mishaps like this you can easily clean it up with a little remover and cotton or a Q-tip or two. So you're just going to apply your second coat the same as we did the first. A good way to maintain the polishes original consistency is to keep it in a cool dark place. Some people like the refrigerator and the final technique for today is applying your top coat, super simple just like we did the others and it's really going to help seal all the layers together and make sure that your polish lasts a long time. It's also going to add a lot of brilliance and shine. I like to use a quick drying top coat during this step, especially if I'm doing my nails myself at home and don't have that much time to wait around. And those are my easy helpful nail polish techniques. I'm Ashlie Johnson. Thanks for watching.
