Hi I'm Jessica Liparoto, celebrity hairstylist, and today I'm going to show you how to get a Dutch braid. The tools we're going to be using is a brush, a comb, a sectioning clip, hair ties and some mousse. We're going to be using the L'Oreal Paris EverStyle Volume Boosting Mousse. We used the mousse in Ingrid's hair, that way we have better grip when sectioning the hair and it gives it a nice voluminous texture. So now we're going to start off by, I'm going to leave Ingrid's side swept bang and then part directly down the center into two equal parts. A Dutch braid is basically an inverted braid so instead of going underneath you're going to go above and it's going to create the ridge on top. And so now that we have our two equal parts we're going to go ahead and secure one side and we're just going to focus on the other. Now I'm going to section out a little part, a little triangle section near the top of the head and you can start your braid lower, you can include bangs, you can leave the bangs out, whatever your preference is. I'm going to go ahead and braid everything back. So this is our little triangle section. Now you're going to divide this into three equal parts, one, two and three. Now usually when doing a regular braid you go over the top. For a Dutch braid we're going to go under the center. You're going to take the right under the center, the center one now comes to the right. I like to hold that in the middle for added security. You're going to bring the left under the center, the center now becomes the left. Once again, hold tight you're going to grab the outermost layer and you're going to bring it underneath the center and you're just going to keep repeating the step all the way until the nape of the neck or you can braid it all the way down, whatever your preference may be. So now you can see we're starting to get the above ridge. And so now that we've finished our braids, you can leave them like this or you can secure them at the bottom or sometimes what I like to do is pin them up like this, keep it real Dutch, maybe tuck them in a little bit and get a Bohemian look. The ideas are endless. And there you have it, that's how you get a Dutch braid. I'm Jessica Liparoto. Thank you for watching.
