- Hi I'm Louis Santelices, celebrity hairstylist and today I'm going to show you how to do some cute bun hairstyles. So today I'm going to show you how to achieve two different looks when creating the bun style, one, we're just going to do a twisting effect and the other we're going to do a teasing more fun flirty kind of style and to create this look a couple of things that you're going to need are some rubber bands, some bobby pins, comb, brush and some styling products and the product that we'll be using today is L'Oreal Paris Studio Line Melting Gel. Okay so what you want to do is begin on top of the crown and what we're going to do is do some back combing. What you want to do is lift the sections straight up above and place your comb into the hair and just gently back combing in the opposite direction and what this creates is a nice volume and head shape to the style. So as you can see, I back combed everything around the crown and what I did is I left this out because I want the placement of the bun to be just right around here above the, just around the round of the head so I didn't tease that because I kind of want that leaner and create like a nice lean head shape through there. So we're going to go ahead and just bring everything down and just gently brushing out the back combing until you get something that's a little bit smoother and polished without combing out the back combing that we did because we want to create like a nice head shape. And you can take some of your product, your gel, you can use gel, hairspray, a pomade and you just kind of want to glaze over it so it's a little bit smoother, clean. Another little tidbit that I want to show you is a different way to place a ponytail. I like to take a couple rubber bands and a bobby pin, placing that just like this and then I'm going to place another one just on the opposite end and what this does is that it gives us a really good tension, so until you get something like this and when you're doing something like this you kind of want it swept up. It's very flattering to have your hair kind of up and away from your face and so use your mirror, just be mindful of the placement. So I think right around there it looks good, you want to take your bobby pin, place it directly, just above. So I'm placing that just right down the middle and then you're going to take it and you're just going to wrap it around and sink it right in and then, just like that and you get something with really good tension. Okay now that we've placed our ponytail, it just in a spot that I want it. So I'm going to create two different looks. This look is a little bit more cleaner, maybe professional and the other one is going to be a little bit more fun. So now that we have this ponytail all we're going to do is lightly twist so that way we can still have a fuller bun. Then just begin the twisting effect by going around the bun, just like that and then we secure it with some bobby pins. So now like if you have some pieces, you know just secure that. It's nice and clean and just be creative and have fun with it. So I'm just going to continue to secure this because we don't want it falling out. These are great for that. I like to go up and down, up and down. I like to place those all around. So I'm going to take this, stick it in like that. So if clean is not a look for you, we can always have a little bit more fun with it and do something a little bit funkier and edgy. So just take pieces of your ponytail and tease it, tease, tease, tease. I like to take really small sections so that way we can create a really full effect. So I'm going to finish this all throughout and we'll come back and I'll show you how to wrap that. Okay now you can see that we've teased all the hair. Now what we want to do is start to form the donut, the bun. So, you can just start taking it from one side. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to place some bobby pins there to secure it from one side, just like that and we're going to work our way around just like that and just securing it all the way around. And it's all about forming it and molding it into place. Take a little bit of hairspray, take any loose ends, take your pins and you can go up and then down and see how there's that contrast of very sleek and then texture. Okay as you can see, you have a nice fun bun here, nice and sleek. That is a fun bun. There you have it. We have a cute bun style. I'm Louis Santelices and thank you for watching.
