- Hi, I'm skin care expert, Tracy O'Connor, and today I'm going to show you how to create a skincare regimen for oily skin. I know how frustrating oily skin can be when you have sort of an oil slick on your T zone or around the nose or on the chin. You know, oily skin tends to be genetic. It can also be caused or sort of worsened by our environment. The thing is that we can treat oily skin and that's what's fantastic. If you're using the right regimen you can help to control the oil and deliver really beautiful healthy radiant skin that's glowing and isn't oily. So our model, Kristen, has beautiful skin with a little bit of oiliness in the T zone. So I'm going to start by using a cleanser on Kristen that will help to control the oil. So I'm going to use the Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel by Vichy. For every oily skin regimen, I recommend using a salicylic acid based cleanser. And first I'm just going to go ahead, gently dampen Kristen's skin and then we're going to go in with a cleanser. I love to use a cleanser in the shower when the warmth and the steam will help activate the active ingredients. Okay I'm just going to use a couple pumps, go ahead and emulsify that and then start to cleanse. Now always work in an upward motion. You just want to massage the product into the skin. You want the product to penetrate. You just want to gently massage. Salicylic acid is a fantastic ingredient if you happen to have clogged pores or congestion or acne. I love it. I think it's fantastic. It helps to break apart the skin cells that are stuck together that are clogging the pores and it smooths the surface of the skin because it lifts those dead skin cells off the surface. You want to use your cleanser morning and night and if you have oily skin it's essential to cleanse your skin before you go to bed. Do not go to bed without washing your skin. You need to break apart the dirt and the oil that is congesting the pores. When you have debris in the pore, that's what causes acne. That's what causes breakouts and I'm just cleansing off Kristen's skin and I can already feel the salicylic acid has smoothed out her skin. And you want to follow your cleanser day and night with an oil free moisturizer and look for something that maybe is very gentle. You don't want anything that has coconut oil or mineral oil. Those are definitely going to clog the pores and exacerbate your oily problem. One final tip when you do have oily skin, be aware that your skin is sensitive and you shouldn't wash your skin more than twice a day because that can irritate your skin. It can also cause your skin to go into oil overload and over production. So there you go, that's how to create a skin care regimen for oily skin. I'm Tracy O'Connor. Thanks for watching.
