- Hi, I'm Jeremy Clark, professional hairstylist and salon owner. And I'm going to show you how to create a French roll. A French roll is very similar to a French twist, basically, you're taking the hair back, as if it were in a ponytail. And then, we're going to fold the hair, roll it onto itself and pin it. So, you'll need some bobby pins and a vented brush, and a brushable hairspray. I'm going to use the Garnier Fructis Full Control Anti-humidity Hairspray. I want prep the hair with a little bit of spray first, just to give it some, give some hold to the hair and some durability. I'm going to start by brushing all of Kristen's hair back. I'm keeping Kristen's natural part, it's fine to use that, we don't want to fight it, we want to use the hair to it's full advantage. So that we're not fighting the hair, we want it to stay in place. So, it's fine to use natural features like, a person's part. We can do this hairstyle to any part, or with no part at all. So, pulling Kristen's hair back, almost as if we're going to do a ponytail. And I hook my thumb right under that ponytail and twist it, forming a loop and feeding that hair right into the roll. And then, you can start to twist it. And as you're twisting it, you can lift the hair up a bit and then, twist it some more. And then, just fold it right over, I'm going to place a pin. And basically, you want to pin the hair right where you're holding it. O.k., then, you can see some of that excess hair is left underneath, and we'll just fold that in as well. Then, I'm going to take a pin and hook it right into the side of that roll, and pin it underneath, where you can't see it. Then, place some more pins. And basically, you want to keep placing pins, until it feels really secure, and it feels like it's going to last all day. And you just want to catch any of those little straight hairs, make sure that they're pinned right into the roll. And you can see how gorgeous Kristen looks with her hair pulled back. It's reminiscent of a look you might see on the red carpet by Angelina Jolie. And I also see this during the day a lot, it's a very, somewhat casual, easy way to put your hair up, but still look sophisticated and sexy. And that's how to create a French roll, I'm Jeremy Clark, thanks for watching.
