- Hi. I'm Darico Jackson, celebrity hairstylist, And today I'm going to show you how to control frizz in African-American hair. I know a lot of the times at home you have to deal with your own hair and you're dealing with situations that look a little bit like this. So, Sheree's hair is very frizzy obviously and when you have frizz you don't want to always pull out the flat iron to smooth it out and you may not always have one with you. So, it's nice to have a product that has some smoothing oils in there and that will go in there and do the job for you. So, to combat this frizz, I'm going to use the Velvet Gloss by Mizani. Velvet Gloss is really nice, because it gives a nice satiny finish, not a real heavy oily finish. And in fact you can kind of see a little bit of it on my hand, how nice and satiny and shiny that is. So, you're going to take a little bit and rub it in your hand. And a little bit goes a long way with the Velvet Gloss even though it's not a heavily oily product, it does have a little oil in there and so you don't want to make the hair real heavy. So, I would say start out light. And all you want to do is just lightly go over the top of the hair and smooth out the frizz. And as you can see it starts doing it on its own. And once you get it in there really, really good, you can take a brush, I'd say use a vent brush as opposed to a bristle brush. Because then you can glide through the hair without actually pulling it and pulling out your style. The best thing about Velvet Gloss is that not only can you use it to take out the frizz, but it's also great as a styling tool. If you have short hair on the areas that are tapered you can smooth it on there. It makes it nice and shiny and smooth and even on the gentlemen out there. If you have a nice low cut crop hairdo, you can just rub it on there and brush it through and it makes your wave shine, it brings back the vitality and your texture. It's a wonderful product. You want to look for products that aren't going to weigh the hair down, that aren't going to make the hair sticky so that when they go out in the wind they have healthy shiny statement making hair. You see how Sheree's hair is nice and light and bouncy. It looks like she doesn't have any product in it at all. That's what we're looking for when we go out there. And that's how you control frizz in African-American hair. I'm Darico Jackson. Thanks for watching.
