- Hi, I'm Spencer Barnes, celebrity makeup artist. Today, I'm going to show you what color eye makeup to use for brown eyes. What I really love about brown eyes is that they're neutral, so you can work with just about any color combination if you balance it out with the rest of the face. There's kind of two directions you could go. One is more natural, using neutral tones - browns, charcoals, even some of the silvers are pretty neutral, a little more dramatic. Or, you get into color using cool tones like greens, blues, and purples. And, with that you get a more dramatic look that can really pop the brown of your eyes. To achieve this look for brown eyes, I'm going to use the Eye Studio Color Plush shadows by Maybelline. First of all, if you're going to do a look that involves warm colors or neutral shades, let me show you a couple combinations that would work. On one hand, we've got sort of a neutral brown palette. There's a softy peachy tone, and these bronze-y browns. Very pretty, and flattering. These tones will look natural, and enhance her natural beauty without really playing up color. Another option would be to go a little warmer. These have gold tones. You've got this beautiful kind of yellow, and a little more coppery color, and these pale golden tones with the deeper bronzes, also very natural and another way to warm up the eyes by keeping them very fresh and natural. If you want to go with a more dramatic look for brown eyes, I recommend using some color. You could use purples and plums, or greens and blues. Here are two options that would be great. The first is a combination with this green color. It's got definitely like a rich, almost teal, little turquoise, sea foam. This'll really help pop the brown in her eyes, and I recommend using cheeks and lips that help compliment it. Maybe the corals, and oranges, and peaches would be beautiful with this. Another option you could do would be using blues. Notice these rich blue colors, and how it really contrasts the brown in her eyes. This will look dramatic and lively, and help make her brown eyes just look rich and delicious. To begin this application, we'll look at four basic parts of the eye: The arch of the brow, the lid, the crease, and the lash line. So, we're going to use four colors, and focus on those four main areas. The lightest color we'll start with first, right under the arch of the brow. This gives you a nice highlight that helps accentuate the arch of the brow, and we'll also take this right along the inner corner of the eye for a little highlight, and across the top of the lid. Secondly, we'll move on with this peachier tone, right on the lid of the eye. We'll do a soft wash, blending into the crease, and stopping there. Next, I'll use this deeper tone, it's a bronze tone, right in the crease of the lid. This'll help shape the eye, and define it a little more. If you're having any trouble locating the crease, the easiest way to find that is to look straight ahead, and where your skin has a natural fold, that's where the best place for the crease will be. Go ahead and start with a little bit in the crease, blending it more intensely towards the outer corner of the eyes, and more intense at the lash line. And finally, I'm going to use a little bit of this silvery, taupe-y, shimmery shade right on the inside part of her eye, close to the lash line. Look down. There we go, right there. Look up. I'll do the same thing on the underside of her eye. Now that we finished applying her shadows, the best way you could finish this would be a little bit of liner smoking at the lash line, and a light coat of mascara, followed by a swish of blush, and a little color on the lips. This will finish the look, and get you ready for the day. And, that's what color eye makeup to use for brown eyes. I'm Spencer Barnes, and thank you for watching.
