Hi, I'm skin care expert Tracy O'Connor, and today I'm going to share with you how to properly cleanse the skin. Now all of us want even, smooth skin texture, but to establish that we need to properly cleanse the pore. We need to free the pores of the debris and the bacteria that's trapped deep inside, and that's giving us an uneven texture, and uneven skin tone. Now for the most part, pore size is genetically pre-determined. However, the good news, you can visibly reduce the appearance of your pores through a multi-dimensional approach. Okay, so there are five steps. First, you want to unplug the pore, and then you want to kill the bacteria that 's trapped inside the pore. You also want to reduce the surface skin cells that are dead, that are trapping debris inside, and then also you want to close down the pore, and finally you want to prevent future sun damage that can enlarge the pore. Whatever your skin type, whether it's oily or dry, acne prone or maturing skin, it's important to cleans the skin AM and PM everyday. That will help to reduce oil production that's trapped in the pore, keep your skin free of congestion, and also help the skin to be smooth and balanced. So on Karissa, I'm going to use the Ultra Facial Cleanser by Kiehl's. And it's great because it's very very mild, and will cleanse the skin without over-stripping the skin of necessary oils. I'm just going to massage that into Karissa's skin. And this is a gel-based cleanser, so it's not going to be foaming. So this has apricot kernel oil and avocado oil, which is high in amino acids, and that's going to nourish and protect the skin while you wash. This formulation has vitamin E, avocado oil and apricot kernel oil, so it's full of amino acids and emollients that are going to nurture the skin while you cleanse. I love a cleanser that has cleansing agents combined with emollients, because that will keep your skin from drying out, or from being overly abused in the cleansing process. A lot of cleanser can disrupt the pH balance of the skin, and you don't want that. Now when you have large pores, you don't want to choose anything that's like an astringent, or with alcohol, you don't want anything that's going to inflame the skin, or the hair follicle. When the hair follicle, which is the pore, is inflamed, it stretches. And that gives the appearance of a larger pore, and a much more uneven texture. Now we've cleansed Karissa's skin, and I can see her skin is balanced, it isn't too tight, and that's how you know you've found the right cleanser. A lot of people think that your skin should feel tight afterwards, but that's not the case. You want the skin to feel nice and smooth, and you want it to be balanced. Always want to apply a moisturizer right after you've cleansed when the skin is still damp. That will help the skin to remain moisturized and hydrated throughout the day. And that is how to properly cleanse the skin. I'm Tracy O'Connor, thanks for watching.
