Hi I'm beauty expert, Tracy O'Connor and today I'm going to show you how to cleanse and tone the face. Cleansing and tone are essential steps in a strong and healthy skin care regimen. So you always want to start by cleansing the skin and then you follow by toning and then of course, moisturizing and protecting the skin. Okay, now we've already cleansed Ashlyn's skin and I'm going to go ahead and show you how to tone. I'm going to be using the Calendula Herbal Extract Toner by Kiehl's. Now you just want to take your toner and a sterile cotton pad and pour just a little bit of that toner right onto the cotton pad. Now once you have your toner on your cotton pad you're going to go on in and just very gently just wipe it across the face. Now this toner is developed for normal to oily skin types. If you do have oily skin, I really recommend a toner. I think it's a fantastic way to kind of get into the pores, get rid of some of that congestion, break up a little bit of that dirt and debris that might be settling into the pores. It's also a great idea to use a calming and nourishing toner if you are acne prone. And this particular toner is fantastic because it has botanical elements and herbal elements such as calendula and this toner is really special because it's hand picked. The calendula flowers are hand picked so that's going to increase the efficacy of the product. Now one very important tip, when choosing a toner, choose a toner that's alcohol free. You absolutely do not want any kind of synthetic harsh drying or dehydrating agents in your toner. That absolutely defeats the purpose. You don't want your toner to sting. It shouldn't sting the skin. It shouldn't be harsh and it shouldn't hurt. I know a lot of people think a toner should kind of sting and that means it's working but that's actually not a good sign. Now I'm looking at Ashlyn's skin and I can tell that this is a really gentle toner and even just feeling her skin to the touch, it's cool and if you use a toner and your skin feels warm to the touch, that's a sign that you're probably using something that's just a little too harsh on the skin. You want your skin to be healthy, balanced and in the right pH level. When it's healthy and balanced it is more protected from the elements. It's more protected from any kind of bacteria, breakout, all of those things and when your skin has a healthy pH, it's going to look healthier. Your skin will have sort of that rosy glow in the cheek and it will also be more resistant to wrinkles and fine lines. When choosing a toner, look for something that has calming ingredients like this one, calendula, chamomile, also azolin extract, those are great ingredients to look for in a toner. Okay we've finished toning Ashlyn's skin and I can tell that her skin is really in a nice balanced state and she's ready for her moisturizer. And that's how you cleanse and tone the face. I'm Tracy O'Connor. Thanks for watching.
