- Hi, I'm skin care expert, Tracy O'Connor, and today I'm going to show you how to choose lotion for dry skin. Now dry skin is a common concern across all ages. However, it does tend to get worse as we get older. When choosing a lotion for dry skin you want to look for something that will deliver not only hydration but also oil to the skin. Now Kristen is very young but she does have a tendency to have a little bit of dry skin on the sides of her cheek even along her neck and chest. If you want your skin to look healthy and to have that glow, you certainly need to have hydrated skin. So we're going to start using Aqualia Thermal 24 Hour Hydrating Fortifying lotion by Vichy. And it says fortifying because when the skin is hydrated, it's more protected from the elements. Dehydrated skin is incredibly vulnerable to photo damage and external elements such as the sun, the wind. We're just going to start applying, hydrated skin is better protected and the water that's in that skin cell is creating a cushion and a barrier between the outside environment and your skin cells. Now this formulation I can feel has no greasiness at all. It's readily absorbed and what's great it's also time released. So what that means is Kristen is going to put this on right now and by the end of the day her skin will still be hydrated and will feel smooth to the touch. And I love a moisturizer that also has an SPF because regardless, Winter, Summer, Spring, Fall, it's important to always have an SPF factor. Another important step if you have dehydrated skin is to exfoliate. Exfoliation will help to get rid of the dehydrated skin cells that are laying on the surface and that appear dull and that are also trapping bacteria inside the pores. As we get older it's even more important to effectively hydrate the skin. So you want to choose products that contain ingredients that both add hydration to the skin cell and then also oil that will lock that hydration into the cell. It's also important to apply a moisturizer to the neck and the chest. Our skin definitely experiences dehydration in those areas as well. And there you go. That's how to choose lotion for dry skin. I'm Tracy O'Connor. Thanks for watching.
