- Hi, I'm Darico Jackson, celebrity hairstylist. And today, I'm going to show you how to take care of damaged African-American hair. Once you've established that your hair is damaged and of course it probably is because you blow dry and you brush and you comb. I recommend that you use a conditioning system. So, the system that we're going to use today is the Mizani reministering system. The reason I chose the Mizani reministering system is because A, it has several selections to choose from. I'm going to use the conditioning mask and the shampoo. When you're choosing a great system like the Mizani system, you want to find something that has serimis to protect the cuticles layers of the hair. You also want to find something that has balance of good moisture and protein because of course too much protein can make the hair dry and brittle. Now that we've shampooed Morgan's hair with a good moisturizing shampoo, you're going to go in and towel dry it because you don't want to condition water. If the hair's too wet, you won't have an opportunity for the conditioner to actually get to the hair. So, you want to towel dry. With a small amount of the mask you want to go in and emulsify it. And emulsify means to stretch. So, you're going to warm the product in your hand, and then you want to make sure that the hair is conditioned from scalp to end because you also need to proteinize and moisturize your scalp as well. So, you're going to start at the base and message it through. Make sure you get in the hairline real good, that's all a part of the scalp. And then you want to message it. You want to message it so that you can stimulate the blood flow and also so that you can work it into the cuticle layer of the hair. So, now we've rinsed out the conditioner, the conditioning mask. Her hair feels really really soft. And then I applied a thermal protector. So, now we're going to go in and smooth it out and see what it looks like. Let's check it out. So, now that I've put the finishing touches on it, as you can see her hair is really shiny and silky and very bouncy. The conditioning regimen did exactly what it said it was going to do. And that's how you take care of African-American hair. I'm Darico Jackson and thanks for watching.
