Hi, I'm Jeremy Clark, professional hairstylist and salon owner, and I'm going to show you how to do a quick and easy blow dry. So I'm going to show you how to achieve a little bit of lift and volume and smooth the hair out a bit but in a really quick easy way. Okay, so getting started, I'm just going to rough dry Cris's hair and I'm going to start by, I'm going to start right here in the center point by the occipital. I'll be blow drying all the hair towards the face. I'm going to start out by doing it with my hands and what I'm actually doing is I'm going to be lifting those roots with my hands to get a little bit of root lift and then I'll go back and finish with the brush to smooth things out. And you can do this really fast at home. Another good trick is to tip your head over and blow dry from the back. The temperature doesn't have to be too hot. A medium setting is perfect. You don't want to scorch the hair. You're not trying to get the hair bone straight, you're just trying to get a little bit of heat into the roots. So be sure that you're blow drying with the growth of the hair. You never want to blow dry against it because that will rough up the cuticle and make the hair look more dry and damaged and frizzy. If you go with it, you're actually smoothing the hair down. So what I'm doing at the root is I'm actually, I'm actually lifting the hair up and over directing it past its normal place of falling and that gives you all kinds of lift. So you should always towel dry the hair before you start this type of blow dry and you really just want the hair to be slightly damp, not dripping. So you want to rough dry the hair until it's almost completely dry. You really don't feel any water left in the ends just maybe slightly damp and that will keep the hair from tangling and once you're at this point you can go back in with your vented brush and I'm going to be blow drying with the head shape, so using the roundness of the head to actually create a little bit of shape to the hair. So, using a vented brush is great because the air can actually flow right through the brush and get to the hair so the hair actually dries a little more quickly for you than if you were using a regular brush. You can see I'm just going right over using that head shape. Another thing that I wanted to mention, Crissa parts her hair on this side and so it's good to blow dry the hair going in the opposite direction because that will give you a lot of lift when the hair comes back over. So once you have your rough dry in, I like to go in with some hairspray, something that has a little bit of shine but is also brushable, can't be too strong. I like to use the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Anti-humidity hairspray and I'm just going to spray a little bit on Cris's ends and then just to really polish those out, this is a really good trick that you can do with your brush. I'm going to take the brush and hold it in my hand like this, coming from underneath and I'm going to use my thumb to actually clamp down onto the hair and that's going to give me a lot more tension so I can smooth out those ends. The other thing that's really nice about doing that is because your thumb is there you can feel how hot the hair is getting and you can make sure that you're not scorching the hair. So we finished our blow dry. You can see the hair is nice and smooth and shiny and the key things to remember are always start with towel dried hair, just barely damp and you want to rough dry with your hands, lifting at the roots moving everything towards the face and then to finish that with your vented brush going in the direction of the hair on a medium heat and using the head shape as a shape to shape the hair. And that's how to blow dry hair quickly. I'm Jeremy Clark. Thanks for watching.
