Hi, I'm Kendra Richards, professional makeup artist. And today I'm going to show you how to apply makeup like a pro and choose the proper foundation. The key to a professional finish is in the tools, the technique, and always starting with a foundation primer. I like to start with prime. I'm using Lancome La Base Pro and a foundation brush. So I start with a single pump and I'm going to put it all over her face. This creates the perfect canvas that makes the skin flawless. This is a secret of professional makeup artists. Refines the skin, the texture of the skin. It minimizes pores. I use a foundation primer because it refines the texture of the skin. This one has light diffusing properties that give the skin the illusion of being even more perfect. All of this enhances the foundation that goes on top of it. Okay now we are ready for the foundation. I'm going to dip my brush in and get a little bit. I can always go in and add and layer if you like. I like to start with the least amount. So I'm adding foundation starting at the center points of her face and moving out. And I love a foundation brush because it allows me to freely feather that color out and get the most natural finish. If you prefer you can use your fingers, you could use a makeup sponge. I find that a brush gives a superior finish. But you should choose whatever works for you. And then when we've applied the primer underneath it's also very smooth in the finish. Then as you are blending this out you can see how smoothly that's just blending and perfecting her skin. And it's really critical to make sure that you're looking at the difference between the jaw and the neck colors. And if you have a huge difference you really want to blend that out as well so that there's a seamless color from the face down to the neck. So I've perfectly matched Jamie's skin town with the foundation. It's best not to try to change your skin tone with a foundation. If you want to add a little bit of warmth you do that through a bronzer. It's best to match perfectly your skin tone. The key to liquid foundation is using it only in the areas that you need it. And you can layer as needed to other parts of the face that gives you the most flawless finish. So that's how to apply foundation like a pro and choose the right makeup colors. I'm Kendra Richards thanks for watching.
