Hi, I'm Rodney Cutler, a stylist and salon owner, and we're going to address one of the most universal issues with a woman's face, and that's how to add volume and thickness to thin and fine hair. So we know Robin has fine hair, but she has a lot of it. So we're going to help her create the illusion that her hair is thick and glamorous, and rich and full. So what's great about this solution is you don't need a lot of equipment. A brush, a flat brush, that we're going to rouge the hair to give it a little bit of body at the roots and support, and every now and then, our industry comes across a revolutionary product that's going to change our life, and this is it. So the thickening powder we're going to use is the Powder Grip by Redken. Now what's amazing about this, it's so light but you'll be blow away by the result and the texture, and the thickness you can add to your hair. It really dissipates into your hand, but once it sits into the hair, it's going to create incredible volume. So the way to achieve this look is to start on dry hair. Do your basic blow dry. Now I know it's a challenge to get body into it if you've got fine hair, but you can see, we don't have a lot of body here, but the hair is dry. Now, the objective here is to get the powder into the roots. So very simply, just dot in some powder at the roots, and it will disappear in there. Rub it into the root, and that way you wont see it. But instantly, you can see the volume that's going to be achieved by the powder. The powder's designed to create texture and hold, but it's very very light. So you will not feel this in the hair at all. So the reason why we put the powder at the root is 'cause that's where your body comes from. If you apply it on the ends, it's going to collapse your hair. So all the support needs to be at the root. If you look at any glamorous hair style, it's always from the roots. That's where you're getting the lift, and that's where your creating the support from the product usage. So it's very important when we're applying this product is that we lift the other hair out of the way, cause we want to make sure that we get right into the root with the powder. And just rub it in very very gently. If you apply it just on top, then you're not going to get the underneath sections, and that's what we want. We want the support from the underneath and working out. So once you've laid the product in, then we're going to get a brush, and we're going to lightly rouge the hair to create a little bit more support and a little bit more back-lift at the roots. What we're doing is gently brushing in. Now, this is different to regular teasing. We want a very soft cushion that will create some support, a little bit of fullness, that can be easily brushed out. And instantly you'll see the body start to form. What I like to do is concentrate around the hair line, 'cause that's where your hair can naturally fall flat. It's very important that when you're doing this, is that you're not doing it on the top layer, 'cause we don't want to see this rouging from the outside, we want it to be underneath that you can naturally brush through, so you still have that polished, that finish to the hair, but you have the volume and thickness at the roots. Already you can see that fullness starting to come in. So there you have it. It's really quick, it's really simple, and I know if you've got fine hair, you think you have to put tons of hairspray on, and set it for half an hour, but this took minutes, and you can see the volume that we've achieved. It's glamorous, it's full, it's rich, it's thick and you're good to go within minutes. So that's how you add volume and thickness to fine hair. I'm Rodney Cutler, and thank you for watching.
