- Hi I'm Caile Noble, celebrity hairstylist and today I'm going to show you how to add volume using a curling iron. If you have straight hair like Tracy does, it's very easy to achieve volume with a curling iron. All you need to do is have the right product so that your hair can get the grip it needs to achieve the look. We're using a Garnier Fructis XXL Volume Thickening Mousse. Just using a little bit, just go ahead and put it through the ends. This is going to allow the hair to get the grip it needs to achieve the look. Once you have it in the hair, grab a brush and just brush it through. Now what I like to do is establish a low side parting over here. Now that you've established the low side parting, you're ready to start throwing in the curls. Taking inch wide sections, you're going to go in with your curling iron and you're just going to wrap it right on down. Leaving the ends just slightly out of the curling iron, let it sit for a minute and then pull it out. Once I finish the top section I'm actually going to go in and do the sides vertically. So now that I've worked here, I'm going to start working that way, that way and then through the back. So we'll go ahead and work through the hair and we'll see you shortly. Now, as you can see I was working that last row right there and basically all I did was I had that top section that I did back, I did this row under, a row here, a row here, a row here, a row here and then a row right here. You can definitely manage this yourself and when you're done, you're going to go through and brush the hair out with your hands. Adding that curl in the hair is definitely giving the hair lift and volume that you want. So go ahead, throw that hand back through your hair and look at the volume you get by using a curling iron.
