New York Fashion Week - Insider Style: Day 2

By: Seane Marie
Photos by: Jenny Fu

What an exciting day! During all the fashion flurry, we snapped a ton of shots of the most fabulous insiders and enthusiasts, headed to and from shows at the Lincoln Center. And in between, I caught up with my ever-amazing friend Clarissa Luna, current North American Make-Up Artist of the Year, to get some insider info on beauty tips and trends. Stay tuned for that post!

In the mean time, check out all the amazing style from these ladies on the street today. All photography is care of the amazingly talented Jenny Fu, who walked the streets with me in her fabulous Jeffrey Campbell Lita Booties to catch all the action. I on the other hand, was in flats by the end of the day!

Julie stood out in her well-tailored snow leapord dress. Plus I LOVE how she used a bright lip color to pop from her grey, black, and white pallete. This look is a win!

Name: Julie

Occupation:
Fashion Journalist

What you're wearing:
Dress by Camilla and Marc, Bracelet from Otte, Clutch by Botkier, Jacket by Iro, Shoes by Alaia, Sunglasses by Zadig and Voltaire

Currently Lusting for:
Giuseppe Zanotti leapord print ponyhair booties

Are you a NYFW Veteran?
"Yes, this is actually my 10th season. I think it's really interesting how much the industry has changed. Back when I started only Journalists [like myself] and Socialites got to go to fashion week. Now Bloggers and Social Media have made fashion so much more accessible to everyone. I think it's great!"

As a NYFW vet, what is your Fashion Week Must have?
"Never leave without lipstick or lip gloss. My current favorite is Chanel's Longwear Lip Gloss in Exces. Also a really great pair of interesting statement shoes. They can make your whole look [complete]."

When I saw Nikia, I knew I had to catch up with her. Her ladylike vintage inspired look stood out, and the way she used multiple brooches as a collage was an amazing detail. Sorry Nikia, but I just may have to copy this trick and try this myself soon!

Name: Nikia

Occupation:
Blogger at chitownfashionista.com

What you're wearing:
Dress by Cynthia Rowley, Shirt from New Look, vintage Brooches, Shoes by Marni, Handbag by Hester Van Eeghen Amsterdam, and Labrabbit Optics

Where she's headed: The Nicole Miller show. "I'm super excited because this is my first fashion week where I get to go to shows. It should be a lot of fun."

Style Tricks: "Stay true to yourself. I love timeless, classic looking pieces. And not everything falls into this category. You don't have to try every trend. If it doesn't work for you, don't wear it."

I met Keisha in the elevator at the Empire Hotel leaving the Nautica show, and I had to ask her to pose for me once we got to the streets. She looked so put together, but casual. Plus she was walking around in a pair of comfortable flat sandals. Hello! Comfort is  chic.

Name: Keisha

Occupation:
Photographer

What you're wearing: Pants and Accessories from River Island, Shoes from a small boutique in England, Forever 21 Handbag, Thrifted Blouse from Houston Works

Where are you coming from? The Luca Luca show, and the Project Runway Fashion Show this morning. "That was a trip. It was really really cool."

Style Tricks: "I use a lot of belts to highlight my waistline" Anything that shows of your shape, without hugging your figure too much.

Describe your style: "I like to be a bit urban. But it's basically casual and sort of bohemian."

Talk about an amazing color! Yellow is such a bold hue, that Duda instantly stood out from the crowd. And what especially caught my eye, was that she paired the color with polished accessories, and a patterned handbag. This look is SUCH a win.

Name: Duda

Occupation: Marketing Director for a Multi-Brand Fashion Store & Blogger

What you're wearing:
Zara Dress, Shoes by Chanel, vintage Belt, Oliver Tiscan for Theory Clutch, Sunglasses by Tom Ford, Silver Bracelet by Cartier, Pulsiera Rivera Spike Bracelet

Lusting for now: The Miu Miu glitter pumps in black

Style advice: "Be body concious! Know what works for you; you don't have to try to fit into everything. It's not about what's considered most 'fashionable' it's about you!"

Thoughts on fashion week: "It's a bit stressful sometimes, but it's the best time to get inspiration. Not only from the shows, but also what you see on the streets."

Zhang's shoes actually had me following after her all the way across the courtyard at the Lincoln Center. I found her unexpected accessory choices to be super interesting, and I love how they add a serious feeling to the casual blouse and denim shorts.

Occupation: Model

What you're wearing: Zara top, Leather cuout shoes by local Chinese designer (based out of her hometown), Leather backpack from local Korean designer, Scarf from boutique in China

Where she's headed: Leaving the Nicole Miller show and off to walk in the Ealguni & Shane Peacock show. "This is my first New York Fashion Week, and all I want is to be involved in as much as possible."

Style advice: "Always follow your mood so you feel comfortable. Never think too much about how to dress. It should come natural. If you [feel] natural you look beautiful."

Currently Coveting: New shoes! "Every store since I've been in America that I walk past, I think 'I want that.' I love everything here [in New York.]"

If there are two things I am obsessed with right now, they are wide-leg pants, and leapard print. I had to stop Dahlia, because her pants combined just those two things. I can't wait to buy a pair of my own!

Currently lusting after: "Anything leapard, seriously, ANYTHING!"

Style Tips: "Always accentuate the parts of your body that you love the most, and hide whatever you don't." Don't focus on what you don't have! Focus on what you do, and highlight those features.

Fashion Week Must-Have: L'Oreal hair gel to keep down the fly-aways. "It's SO humid outside."

Where are you coming from? The Rebecca Taylor show. "I was so inspired by the nude colors. Most of the color palette of the show was completely neutral. I think it's so chic. OH and the chunky sweaters!" They were to die for.
