The Goddess Glow at the Doo.Ri Show
By Shyema Azam
Doo.Ri is perhaps the undisputed draping master, but this season she added layers of elements to show off her versatility as a designer. One part of the collection was fluid, the other part structured; one part stark white and neutral, the other with bold colorful prints.

Hairstylist Orlando Pita played off these different characteristics with the styles backstage. “There’s texture and flyaways inspired by the collection, which has very structured parts and flowey parts to it,” he said. “So we have a tight ponytail, but there are bits flying out.”

He used 1976 products: The Amazon Thermal Memory Styler to blow dry it first, then sprayed it with their Trash It Workable Spray for texture, and finally, their Hold It hairspray to set it.
“Ponytails are the perfect hairdo,” he said. “You can wear it textured, smooth, high, low, natural and everyone knows how to do it themselves. It works with an evening dress just as much as it can work with jeans and a t-shirt.”
MAC makeup artist Tom Pecheux gave the models an other-worldly glow by also being inspired by the different looks in the collection. Instead of playing with colors, he decided to do a mash up of texture on a nude palette.
“Because all of [Doo.Ri’s] prints were very unusual and had very vivid colors, we thought we should keep the makeup very subtle,” he said. “We wanted a contrast in texture.”
Keeping the T-zone extra matte, Pecheux added a rosey glow to the surrounding brow bone and eye area.
“When the models are going to be under the light of the runway, all of this is going to just explode,” he said, referring to the shine around the eyes.

The models skin did look extra flawless, and it was a little hard to stop staring – the different texture gave them such an interesting look! He used MAC’s Gold Fusion Metal-X Crème Shadow as a highlight on the cheeks, applying it with his finger trips from lash line up to the brow. There’s a little heavier application on the inner corner of the eyes and the brows were made to look as they were made of gold.
Want to try it at home? Pecheux suggests the most subtle way to add a glow is just to apply a little gold shadow on the inner part of your eye lid.
“If you want to push it, swipe it across the lid,” he says. “If you want to REALLY push it, bring the gold all the way up to under the eyebrows.”
The only place he discourages placing highlighter is RIGHT under the eyes. Opt to apply it over your cheekbones instead.
