From Subtle to Safari to Shocking
From Subtle to Safari to Shocking, spring 2012 really has it all. And day six gave us that whole range in one fabulous day.

Colorblocked Minimalist. Colorblocking and minimalism are two trends that have been major players for the past four fashion weeks. So it is only appropriate that designers' favorite inspirations get merged into one new trend idea. Together they seem contradictory, but there is a perfect synergy of style here. Instead of using the typical bold color combinations designers are taking a more subdued approach by starting with blacks, whites, greys and creams and adding it a pop of color. The looks themselves are light, fluid and casually comfortable. Phillip Lim mentioned that his collection was almost kite like and I think that truly embodies this trend idea. Easy, breezy (pun intended), and loose pieces that resemble the perfect spring day. This trend is easy enough to pull off now: wear black, white and grey in all one outfit, then add a pop of color in your handbag, shoe, or belt.

(Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, Donna Karan)
Going on Safari. Tribal styling always is a trend that re-invents itself every Spring. This season some of the top designers went on an urban safari bringing us eclectic visions of africa meeting the urban jungle. Proenza Schouler, Donna Karan and Michael Kors all took us there. With fabulous trench coats, flowing dresses, rouching and body conscious fit all mixed in with snake patterns, leathers and tribal prints and tiki textures. But of all three shows, I particularly liked that each had their very own version of the same halter style dress. And this dress is outstanding for bottom heavy women. The halter style neckline accentuates your shoulders, making them appear longer and also giving you a very slim appeal. So weather you wear the dress fluid like Michael Kors or waist fitted and tiki style like Proenza Schouler this is sure to be a Spring 2012 investment for your closet.

Shock me Shock me Shock me! Just when we thought the trend was over, Nanette Lepore will have single handedly keep the neon trend going strong for Spring 2012. While the trend had seem to hit its tipping point in the American fashion markets, her bold silhouettes, 80's dreamy beach neons and 50's styling sensibility has given neons and electric brights a whole new meaning! It's a 'shocking' reinvention and it'll be the first thing I purchase for spring 2012. What I love about Nanette Lepore overall is that she has the absolute most perfect fit. Her pieces are feminine and fitted at the waist but are also made with extra room in the bust-line for bigger cup sizes. Her flirty skirts, slim sheaths and bust gracing necklines are perfect for all shapes and sizes. Plus Neons like this make all skin tones glow. You'll be beach ready and spring chic styled all at once.
