Tread carefully with white heels or you could end up a fashion nightmare. Although many of the rules about wearing white have relaxed in recent years, smart fashionistas still wear white carefully to avoid embarrassing style mistakes. Build an outfit around white heels, concentrating on each separate piece to make sure you don't tip the balance from trendy to tacky.
1.
Choose white heels with stylish designs. Peep-toes, ankle straps or chic cutouts will make your white heels in vogue. One of your biggest concerns with white heels is their tendency to dominate your whole outfit. Minimize the white by choosing "barely there," strappy sandals with delicate high heels.
2.
Wear white heels with a flirty skirt of any length. It's OK to contrast colors if you're daring enough. You can even wear white heels with black or navy blue if you balance it with light colors above your waist. White heels go equally well with lighter colors, too.
3.
Don white heels with skinny jeans, bootleg pants or capris in light colors. Shades of washed blue denim, khaki or gray coordinate easily with white pumps. Capris in a light-colored plaid or floral pattern can match white heels nicely.
4.
Minimize hosiery. Wear nude nylons if you must wear hose; otherwise go without. You want your natural skin tone to be the only contrast with white heels or they can look too striking.
