When cold weather strikes, coverups are a must. Any woman can throw on a coat to survive a chilly night out on the town, but the fashion-savvy femme has other options in her style arsenal. Large scarves, shawls and wrap style tops can let a lady lose her winter weather woes without sacrificing chic. To dress up your look with a touch of elegance, consider covering your fashionable frocks and evening wear with a fancy velvet wrap.

1.

Make a shrug. Pull the wrap around your shoulders, with the long ends hanging down the front of your body. If the wrap is wide, first fold it in half like a scarf. Tuck the long ends of the scarf under your arms, then tie the ends at the center of your back.

2.

Make a shawl. Pull the wrap around your shoulders. Tie the ends into a knot at the front of your waist. For an off-the shoulder look, tie the knot at bust level.

3.

Make a scarf. Fold the wrap in half and wrap it around your neck. Insert the hanging ends on one side through the loop on the opposite side. Adjust the wrap to fit your neck.

4.

Create a covered look. Pull the wrap around your shoulders, then toss one end of it over the opposite shoulder.

5.

Create a casual look. Throw the wrap over your shoulders, so that the ends hang down your front. Add a belt over the wrap to hold it in place.

6.

Create an elegant look. Pull the wrap around your neck, with the long ends hanging down your back. Toss one end over the opposite shoulder, letting it hang down the front.

Tips & Tricks

You can use a fashionable brooch or pin to hold your wrap style in place.

Choose a wrap style that is comfortable and doesn't slide around while you're wearing it, or you'll be stuck making adjustments all night long.
