If you've ever stared at your beloved pink cardigan sweater wondering how you can make it chic and sexy, then you know how hard it is to make such a girly piece look sophisticated. Coordinating your cardigan with other pieces from your closet takes planning, but you can, in fact, create an outfit to wear just about anywhere with your sweater.

Casual Chic

A trip to the mall, picnic with your girlfriends or even a grocery run are all great opportunities to throw on your cardigan for a casual yet chic look. Striped pink goes with neutral colors like gray, white and black, so to pair it with a tee-shirt in one of these colors. Or go for a tone-on-tone look with a pink shirt. Choose a long tee that covers your bottom and pull on a pair of leggings for a fun outfit. If you want to dress it up a bit, wear a daring necklace or pair of earrings that stand out.

Pretty and Preppy

Nothing says preppy and girly like a cardigan in the color pink. Play up the prep by coupling your cardigan with a crisp white button-up. Make sure your blouse is collared and fitted, since preppies are all about looking neat. Pair this ensemble with a pair of skinny jeans and Mary Jane shoes or even a pair of khaki pants and flats. Top it all off with a pearl necklace to really bring this sweet-and-innocent look together.

Dressy Day

If you're going to church or giving a class presentation, you can definitely create a dressy outfit with your pink striped cardigan. Keep your colors subdued. Choose a satin tank top for underneath in shade of pink lighter than your sweater or white. A pair of dark jeans keeps this look business-casual dressy. Don't forget to top it all off with a girly headband or long necklace.

Girls' Night Out

Cardigan sweaters may not exactly scream "night on the town," but making it work on this occasion is unexpectedly cute and gives you that naughty schoolgirl appeal. If you're hitting the club, wear a sheer black, white or pink top underneath your open cardigan. If you're not entirely comfortable in a sheer shirt alone, a cami gives you a bit more coverage. Pair this with a mini skirt, patterned tights and patent heels. Now, you're really give new meaning to dressing like the girl next door!
