Spectator shoes are a unisex style of low-heeled oxford-type lace-ups constructed with two contrasting colors, usually white against black or brown. You can also often find spectator-styled two-tone pumps just for women. These dress shoes have a distinctly vintage feel.

Dancing

Two-toned spectator shoes are de rigeur for dancing swing styles like the Lindy Hop. Don a dress with a flare skirt and a feminine floral print and get out there on the dance floor.

Summer Whites

Spectator shoes are the perfect choice for summer affairs, especially those held outdoors. Wear them with a white linen suit or a blowsy white dress. You're ready for tea or a picnic, croquet on the lawn, a little beachcombing or just a stroll through the gardens.

Weddings

Take advantage of the unisex styling of spectators when it comes to formal events of all sorts. They match up well with a formal evening dress as well as tuxedos and suits. On men, they can sometimes come off as a little too flashy, but on women, they're pitch-perfect.

Fall and Winter Looks

But what about "no white after Labor Day"? Don't let fussy fashion rules keep your spectators in the closet for half the year. Your two-tone shoes can be worn with fall and winter looks, too. Just swap out your white frocks for black basics instead. Wear your spectator pumps with a black cocktail dress and pearls for a classic holiday party look.
