You’ve got a festive event coming up, and nothing seems more perfect than to wear your sequined tunic. This long, sequin-covered shirt is a surprisingly versatile dressing option, because the tunic can be a standalone piece or worn under a blazer for layering. To find your own personal style, consider your options and pick the figure-flattering choice that makes you look unforgettable.
Black Tights
If you’ve got the legs and the tunic falls enough below your butt, you can wear a pair of black leggings and skip the pants. If you are taller, the appropriate length is to have the tunic hit at mid-thigh. This look flatters your legs, especially when you pair them with a pair of black pumps to create a long, lean line. Just make sure the leggings are opaque -- as in not see-through -- so your outfit won’t appear too risqué.
With a Blazer
Sometimes sequined tunics can appear too shiny for a more casual night out. If this is the case, you can hit just the right tone by wearing an oversized blazer over your sequined tunic. The blazer won’t take away from your outfit, plus the slouchy, menswear-inspired shape is ideal for wearing with a pair of form-fitting pants.
Jeans
The sparkle of sequined tunics can be perfectly paired with skinny jeans, particularly in a dark, almost-black denim color. For shoes, pick a pair of heeled booties or even a pair of jeweled sandals. If you think jeans are too casual for your event, try a pair of skinny black pants or even matte leather pants instead, just not a pair that’s too shiny.
What Not To Wear
When you’re wearing a sequined tunic, you don’t need a lot of additional bling. Wearing satin, patent leather or glittery tights can be too shiny and make you appear more like a disco ball and less like a fashionable woman. The same goes for wearing too many accessories: Wearing sequined jewelry or accessories that have a lot of sparkle and shine are best left to another outfit choice. You can, however, wear jewelry such as stud or hoop earrings or even muted chains to complement your look.
