In most cases it isn't wise to wear leggings for a night out. Be honest with yourself -- leggings were made for casual and relaxed situations, like going to the mall with your best buds. But if you've searched high and low through your closet for an outfit and keep coming up empty, you can make the leggings work. If you need some inspiration, check out actress Hilary Duff, who has been spotted out on the town more than once wearing leggings. A few key clothing pieces and accessories can make your leggings night-out worthy.
1.
Pull your leggings on and hike the bottoms up as far as possible. You should have at least six inches of leg showing. If you're going to wear leggings for a night on the town, try to find a shiny pair. Also, use a lint ball remover on them if necessary.
2.
Find a pretty blouse that is long enough to cover your booty -- the longer the better. You can also wear a short dress over the leggings. Avoid shirts or dresses made of cotton or nylon material like your leggings. Your goal here is to dress up the top of your outfit as much as possible to contrast with the dressed-down bottoms.
3.
Pick a cute, wide belt to wear with your outfit. Go for one that's shiny, flashy or decorated with rhinestones. Put it around your waist, right under your bra.
4.
Accessorize your outfit with jewelry to distract from those comfy pants. Pick a cute necklace that drops way down near your belly button and a pair of dazzling earrings (diamonds, rhinestones or another sparkly jewel).
5.
Finish off your quickie leggings outfit with a pair of sky-high heels, preferably black or an eye-catching color like red. A gorgeous pair or stilletos sooo make up for the leggings when you're hitting the town.
