Wearing mini-skirts is an art. You want to show off your gams, even if you're layering under your mini, but you don't want to show too much. With leather minis, you need to be especially conscious so you don't make the leather (or yourself!) look cheap. Wear an oversized shirt over your leather mini-skirt, tuck in a cute top or layer your look to make this work.
Marissa Grumer of "Seventeen" Magazine says, "Since the miniskirt is short and shows off your legs, you'll want to keep your top half pretty covered. You don't want to be all skin head to toe!" With this in mind, play up the rocker feel to your leather mini by pairing it with an oversized vintage T or other edgy top. Make sure the T doesn't fully cover your skirt, of course.
For a fancier occasion or one where you want to look more polished, tuck a tank top or blouse into your leather mini-skirt. Utilizing different materials and textures is key here to avoid looking too much like an aspiring biker. Plus, matching cotton or wool with leather adds an interesting flare to your ensemble.
If you feel that you're showing too much skin, layer a blazer or cardigan over your mini and top. A wool or cotton blazer will contrast nicely with the leather and make the look instantly classier.
Your shoe choice can really influence the feel of your outfit as a whole. Complement your leather mini-skirt's natural edge by wearing cute sneakers, combat boots or studded ankle boots. For more sophistication, pair feminine heels with your outfit and see just how hot your legs will look.
When wearing mini-skirts, it's important to make sure they're not too mini. Before leaving the house, make sure you can sit down and still remained covered.
