Romantic, feminine lace and fancy sheer looks are often on trend, but a girl doesn't have to restrict her lace love to dressy formal wear only. A little bit of lace, such as a lace vest, paired with contrasting fabric textures can turn an everyday ensemble super-chic. However, lace vests come in a variety of styles and lengths that may not suit every outfit. Match your vest with the proper garment shapes for the most flattering proportions.

Cropped

Short, cropped vest styles can be cute, especially with shapes that flow away from the body. This lace vest channels the bohemian trend when worn over a gathered dress with long, blousy sleeves and sandals, or a loose tank top dress. Skinny jeans, a spaghetti strap A-line blouse and plain flats make a casual pairing perfect for any season. For a more formal look, a girl can instead go for a dark-colored A-line skirt, wide belt, a sleeveless top and heels.

Long and Loose

Super-long lace vests can display a free-spirited, bohemian style. To play up the hippie vibe, a girl can wear it with flats or slouchy boots, lots of bangles and a minidress with a small, country-chic textile pattern such as flowers or polka dots. For a basic casual look, jean shorts, a plain tank top and flats or canvas sneakers complement the long lace vest. If a girl wants to go sophisticated chic instead, an A-line skirt that ends at mid-calf, a button-down top, colored tights and oxford booties go best with a belted vest.

Hip Length

Long menswear-style vests also come in lace looks, often hitting just at the hip. Turn this trend cute and colorful with a floaty, ruffled three-quarter-length sleeve dress in a bold, solid tone, tights and kitten heel shoes. A belted vest look goes chic over a long-sleeved, patterned knee-length dress and slouchy boots. To make a lace vest work for evening, a girl can slip into a sleeveless tunic, solid-colored leggings with a metallic sheen and high-heeled booties.

Waist Length

A lace vest that hits a girl right at the waist can be a versatile garment, flattering a variety of shapes. A girl can go cute with colorful city shorts, a collared sweater, knee socks and oxford booties, or bust out her basic casual tank top with wedges and slouchy wide-legged pants. To get dolled up for nighttime, a pair of dark-colored skinny jeans, a blazer in a color that contrasts with the vest, a sleeveless blouse and a hot pair of heels give a girl plenty of glam.
