Graphic black and white accessories take a drab outfit from boring to bold. Graphic prints of all colors are hot off the runway, but it's traditional black and white that make the biggest statement of all. A striking print or chunky pattern is a hot way to update the classic color combo. Wear it in small doses -- a scarf or clutch will do -- so you're not overwhelmed.

1.

If you go for one graphic black and white accessory, don't be afraid to go big. A chunky graphic necklace or a big slouchy bag in a large pattern will draw lots of attention. If you want to wear something smaller, like thick plastic bangles, make a statement by wearing a few with contrasting patterns. Love accessorizing? Rock a graphic black and white clutch with graphic heels, but keep the patterns similar. Don't make your admirers dizzy by pairing zebra-striped peep toes with a houndstooth clutch.

2.

Let your accessories take center stage and plan the rest of your outfit around them. Because they are bold and patterned, it's important that the rest of your outfit is not. A plain black or white dress looks stunning mixed with black and white graphics. A deep red dress will complement the bold graphic patterns, but lighter colors and pastels will just get lost. Also, stay away from clashing patterns -- like stripes.

3.

If you're one of those lucky ladies who has no trouble pulling off high fashion looks, buck the rules and mix it up. All out crazy combos -- like the red and black striped skirt and graphic black and white clutch on a fashion writer in the June 2011 "Vogue" -- will really get you some attention. Get the mix right by sticking to only two daring, differing looks. More than that will take you from high-fashion chic to manic mess.

Tips & Tricks

Keep it to two accessories, such as a scarf and bangles. Any more than that will look like you're trying too hard.
