Updos and elegant hairstyles look far more fabulous when accented with an eye-catching accessory. Glass hair sticks are chopstick-like tools that are woven into long hair. Putting them in is easy once you learn the technique and the effect is sophisticated and beautiful. If your hair is shoulder-length or longer, you can use glass sticks on just about any updo. A good place to start is by using them on a simple bun.

Brush clean, dry hair to remove any knots.

Pull your hair to the back of your head and gather it into a ponytail at the nape of your neck.

Twist the ponytail in a clockwise direction until it starts to coil around itself. You're making a simple, classic bun.

Hold the bun in place with one hand. Insert the glass stick up through the outer portion of the bun with your other hand. The stick should be pointing up and out of your bun.

Lift the stick so that the tip is pointing down toward the bun. Push the tip of the stick into the bun and slide it along your scalp before pushing it out through bottom of the bun. You've just woven your first stick-through the bun!

Repeat the weaving process for your next stick so that when you're done, you have two hair sticks poking out of the bun. Insert the second stick parallel to the first or across it in an "X" shape. Pretty, huh?

Tuck any loose ends of your hair up underneath the bun and use hairspray to hold them in place.
