Vests are a fabulous way to add depth to an outfit that might otherwise be bland, while showing off your naturally fashionable ways. They come in many styles, but the draped vest is a super-versatile element that you can add to a myriad of outfits with ease and look amazing. Almost like a necklace, your draped vest can be considered an accessory to your look.

1.

Wear you draped vest over a vintage T-shirt and jeans, and hone in on your inner rocker-chick. Tees with printed graphics look especially, shall we say, "rad." Nothing takes a simple outfit like this and turns it up a notch like a vest.

2.

Belt it! Oftentimes, draped vests come long and hang past your waist. This is a perfect opportunity to rock the beloved cinch belt, your hourglass-figure's best friend. Simply throw your vest over whatever ensemble you are wearing, and fasten your coordinating belt around your torso, effortlessly marrying your apparel into one, beyond-chic look.

3.

Blouses come in all styles, and you can totally wear your draped vest over a semi-casual blouse. Stick to blouses that are collarless, like a pleated blouse or a silk-button flowy one, with lots of movement. Play around with your patterns, and even tuck in your blouse, letting the vest hang in front.

4.

Got a cute floral or summer dress? How about an adorable fall or wintertime confection that you want to make more complex? Throw your draped vest over it. This will help you get more mileage out of any dress because one outfit becomes two, and with a belt or some other accessories, maybe even three or four.

5.

Going to a concert, shopping for the day or just hanging out? A vest over a tank top looks so hot! Even if you top off a plain, white tank with your draped vest, you will immediately get some fashion cred. Zanna Roberts of "Marie Claire" states that a vest "evokes a menswear look and replaces both the shrunken vest and the blazer. It can even be worn as a light overcoat." This is perfect for a hot day that becomes a cooler night.

Tips & Tricks

Draped vests are highly versatile but generally make a look feel more casual, so be wary of wearing this style when you are trying to appear dressed up.
