Forget about being so matchy! Fashion today is all about fun. Sure, black shoes totally work with a black dress, but they're not a necessity. If you like your classic black dress-black shoe combination, by all means wear it -- but don't feel obligated. For a more interesting look, step out of the box and pair some shoes of a different color, or even a print, with your black frock.
Go Nude
Keep it neutral and slip on a nude heel. It's an unexpected contrast that looks surprisingly chic and elegant. Black and nude are both neutrals, but they're on such different ends of the color spectrum that they're not usually the first color combination people think of. The nude heel totally looks amazing with a black dress, and is sure to make you stand out.
Shimmer in Metallics
Get flashy with a metallic heel. Gold, silver and everything in between are fair game. Metallics are a great alternative to black if you have a printed or embellished dress and want to match, but don't want to wear black shoes. So get as shimmer or as matte with your metallics as you want, and dress up your LBD in style.
Prints and Patterns
If your black dress is a solid color, why not try a print on your feet? Unleash your inner Catwoman in a leopard print heel, or get sexy in a textured snakeskin pump. If you're not into animal prints, try a floral or art inspired shoe.
Bright, Bold Colors
Make your feet your statement piece in a brightly colored shoe. A classic red is always a great option. For a more modern look, step into a rich jewel-toned shoe or a bright coral. For the very daring, test out some super bright, neon-colored high heels -- guaranteed to make you the talk of any party!
