Ankle boots are seriously fun footwear that you can dress up or down, depending on how you wear them. One of the beauties of ankle boots is their easy elegance that makes them suitable for women of any size. If you make your overall wardrobe choices according to your body type, you can successfully pull off wearing ankle boots with a variety of pants.

Slip on skinny jeans or leggings in a color that matches or is close to the color of your ankle boots. What you wear on top is your choice. A button-down blouse, fitted sweater or tunic-style top is a valid option.

Step into your ankle boots. The most attractive ankle boot for you depends largely on your body type. If you are thin, choose ankle boots with a thin heel and delicate look. If you are plus size, go for a chunkier ankle boot. If you have short legs, try to lengthen your appearance with heeled ankle boots. If you are long and lean, anything goes -- your options are wide open.

Tuck the bottoms of your pants or leggings into the tops of your ankle boots. Try to keep your pants as smooth as possible as you tuck them in -- wrinkles of fabric here can make it look as though you have thick ankles.

Tips & Tricks

You can also wear boot-cut pants with ankle boots -- just roll the bottoms up slightly so they fall right at the tops of the ankle boots. The effect will be almost the same as tucking skinny jeans or leggings into the tops of the ankle boots.

If the color of your pants is a sharp contrast to the color of your ankle boots -- white leggings and black boots, for example -- this mistake make short legs look even shorter and it makes long, thin legs also look short.
