Not all belts are created equal -- some spread wide and some stay slim. Skinny belts offer the perfect accessorizing touch that won't overwhelm your outfit. Where a wide belt commands attention, a skinny one accentuates and adds to the appeal of your ensemble. Plus, skinnies pair up with just about any outfit.
Pencil Skirt Accessory
If you want to come off perfectly polished and furiously fab, pair a pencil skirt with a tucked in blouse for a chic, slimming look. Finish your amazing look with the addition of a skinny belt. For a bit of an edge, go for something metallic and flashy. Otherwise, make a statement with a black skinny belt against a pastel color.
Replace Factory Belts
Sometimes dresses come with belts attached, whether you want it or not. If you're not in love with the complimentary accessory, trade it out and upgrade with a skinny belt instead. Brighten up a black frock with a skinny belt in bright yellow or red. Or snag a skinny belt with some embellishments to add style and pizazz to an otherwise average outfit.
Secure a Sweater
Slipping a cute fitted cardigan or vest over a print or solid dress can make an adorable fashion statement. Belting the cardigan or vest can make more of an impact and show off your impressive waistline. Simply leave the cardigan or vest unbuttoned and wrap the belt around it. Fasten the belt in front and arrange the cardigan so it doesn't bunch up too much in the wrong places.
Belt Your Jeans
Instead of letting your jeans slip down off your hips, slide a skinny belt into the loops to help keep them in place. Your jeans outfit can go from flat to fab in a mere matter of seconds. Instead of sporting an overwhelmingly large belt, you can employ the skinny version and add style to your outfit.
Rein in Waistlines
Empire-waist tops or dresses sometimes need a little defining, especially if you wear a jacket over them. Slip a skinny belt around the higher waistline to rein in a garment that's too flowing. This move will give your top or dress more definition and you won't have to worry about someone thinking you might be expecting.
