You may be sporting your natural hair, but if it’s dry, damaged or brittle, it can look more like a horse’s mane than a human mane. Ditch the dryness and rejuvenate your strands with apricot oil. It’s a natural and effective way to give your locks a boost without breaking the bank.

What Is Apricot Oil?

Apricot oil is a deep, gold hue and is light in texture. It is extracted from, where else, but an apricot. The seeds of apricots are pressed, and the oil is taken out. This oil is high in fatty acids, vitamin A and calcium and offers a fragrant, mild aroma.

Why It's Good For Your Hair

So what makes apricot oil so special for your hair? Because this oil is high in fatty acids, it helps to add moisture to your mane. The fatty acids in apricot oil – combined with the vitamins and minerals – help to make your hair soft and shiny and also aid in strengthening brittle, damaged hair. It also keeps your scalp healthy by preventing dryness and dandruff. The good thing about apricot oil is its light texture doesn’t leave your hair looking or feeling greasy.

How to Use

Apricot oil is easy to use in your hair, and you don’t need to mix it with anything else. Just pick up a bottle of pure apricot oil, and you’ve got all you need to treat your tresses. Wash your hair like usual and let it air dry completely. Put three to five drops of apricot oil into your hand – use more if you have long or thick hair and less if your hair is short or thin. Rub your hands together, then work it into your hair and scalp. Now you’re ready to style your hair just like you normally would. You can also make a hot oil treatment with apricot oil. Heat about ¼ to ½ cup of the oil in the microwave for 30 to 45 seconds to warm it up. Soak your strands with the hot oil. Leave it in for a minimum of 30 minutes before washing your hair.

Other Tips

Since you already have apricot oil to use on your hair, why not give your skin a boost, too? Apricot oil is fabulous for dry skin. Rub just a drop or two of it onto your face once a day to restore moisture, keep your skin soft and supple and make your face glow.
