Mascara makes lashes look long, thick and beautiful. It brightens up eyes and gives women every where a glamorous look without the need of fake lashes. Waterproof mascara does all of that, plus it doesn't smudge or move when we cry or somehow manage to get water near our eyes. However, there is a downfall to having incredibly waterproof lashes: removing them. Don't fret lush lash ladies, there are makeup removers made just for removing waterproof mascara.
About Waterproof Mascara Removers
Women are always trying to find the best makeup remover that will leave their skin feeling clean and fresh. Makeup by Heather A makeup artist Heather Adessa says that what makes a great remover is how your skin feels after you use it. She also says that there is little difference between a creamy and a liquid remover and one is not better than the other. It just depends on how your skin feels after using it. She also says that if your skin feels too oily afterward, then the product is no good.
Drugstore Removers
Stubborn mascara-coated lashes are no competition for inexpensive, drugstore waterproof mascara removers. Senior fashion and beauty correspondent for JustLuxe.com, Jennifer Chan, absolutely loves Neutrogena's Oil-Free eye makeup remover. She swears by this product because it always gets the job done, regardless of how much waterproof eye makeup you're wearing. She also loves the fact that it doesn't require tugging or pulling to do its job and it doesn't irritate the eye. Makeup artist and creator of Nevichi Cosmetics, Charles L. Nevichi, loves Andrea Eye Qs. He says that it contains aloe vera gel to soothe the delicate eye area while it cleans. It also doesn't dry out the eyes and it works best with waterproof makeup.
Higher-End Removers
Sometimes women like to splurge on beauty products, and makeup removers are no different, especially if they can get the job done fast and easy. Beauty Buzz Book creator and author Victoria Snee loves Lancome's Bi-Facial Double Action Eye Make-up Remover. She says that it not only works great to remove waterproof mascara, but it's also safe for people with sensitive skin.
Towelettes or Pads
Towelettes and removing pads are a very quick and easy way for busy women on the go to remove that stubborn mascara. Adessa does say that women should be careful with towelettes and pads because although they work, they can dry out the skin. So use a moisturizer once you've removed the makeup. Snee recommends Almay Eye Make-up Remover Pads because they work just as well as expensive brands but are very inexpensive. Beauty Alert creator Stacya Silverman loves MAC's "Wipes." She says that you can either get the smaller pack with 45 wipes or the larger one with 100 wipes for a bit more moola. Silverman does say that they work well and are safe and easy to use.
Do-It-At-Home
So you completely forgot that you applied waterproof mascara for your rendezvous in the hot tub and now you have no way of taking off that glamorous mascara. Have no fear adventurous diva, there is a do-it-at-home trick of removing waterproof mascara. Snee says that good old fashioned baby oil removes tough waterproof mascara. She says that mascaras contain extra-drying ingredients and that's what makes it tough to remove. Since most waterproof mascaras are oil-based, Snee says that you need to use an oil-based remover. What's more oil-based than baby oil?
