Vix is a swimwear line inspired by the beaches and beauties of Brazil. Designer Paula Hermanny named Vix for the airport code for Vitoria, a beach city in Brazil. Vix could also be short for vixen -- the type of beach temptress who might wear Vix's signature bikinis. The swimwear line, which started in 1998, has been featured in the "Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition" and countless popular magazines, including "Elle" and "InStyle." Today, the brand's lines include Vix Cruix, Sofia Cruise and Hermanny Cruise.
Vix Swimwear
The Vix signature line, consists of sexy bikinis with leather accents and embellishments -- think Bo Derek in the movie "10." Expect to find a striped bikini with rivets and rope ties on the top and hips. A ruffled bandeau top with string-tie bottoms or a snake-print suit with orange leather details are all examples of suits you might find in the Vix line.
Vix Cruise
The Vix cruise line retains the same sexiness as the original swimwear collection in bold prints or flirty ruffles on the swimsuit bottoms. Black is the main accent color, and embellishments like metal chains or wooden rings are attached at the hips. The cruise collection also features maillots like black halter one-pieces or animal-print suits.
Sofia by Vix
The little sister of the chief Vix swimwear line is Sofia by Vix. The line include tie-dye prints in multiple, bright colors like blues, purples and greens. The bikinis feature mix-and-match bikini tops and bottoms. Prints like polka dots, zebra and florals also are part of the collection. Ruffled cover-ups in solid colors like pink, blacks and whites also complement the suits.
Accessories
The Vix line extends beyond swimsuits to sexy cover-ups suited for the beach and the nightclub. Caftans and cover ups in matching swimsuit prints are found in the Vix line. Crocheted and lacy dresses also add a feminine touch. Many of the line's signature halter styles are found in the cover ups, adorned with gold accents.
Where to Find It/Inspirations
Vix swimwear lines are found on the official Vix website, VixSwimwear.com. Many online retailers and major department stores offer Vix clothing lines as well. Vix's swimsuit collection has drawn fans like Jennifer Aniston, Eva Longoria and Denise Richards. "When I'm designing, I picture that woman, who represents everything there is about style," said designer Paula Hermanny on the Vix Swimwear website. "One year, I might see her in St. Barts and I can picture what she's going to be wearing and that image becomes the basis for my collection."
