There's no denying that fresh-from-the-salon highlights and hair color will put a smile on your face and a bounce in your step. But all too soon, your vibrant color fades and you're left to contemplate ways to better maintain your results. Redken, long recognized as a leader in hair care, created its Color Extend product line to address those concerns. Color Extend contains Redken's proprietary fade-resistant conditioning blend that shields hair from ultraviolet solar radiation while strengthening and reinforcing the outer part of the hair, the cuticle. This locks in color and locks out environmental damage, mineral-laden hard water and some of the effects of styling abuse.
Reinforce With Total Recharge
When your highlights/haircolor are fresh, your stylist will advise you to wait at least one to three days before shampooing. Color Extend Total Recharge is intended for use after shampooing to prevent color dilution and to strengthen your hair. Spray Total Recharge evenly over your hair, allow it to coat your hair for up to two minutes, and rinse. Apply it to dried hair for extra conditioning. Due to the smoothing of the outer cuticles of each hair shaft, your hair is left with a brilliant shine.
Protect With Rich Recovery
Color Extend Rich Recovery is a deep conditioning treatment that is designed to increase manageability to lessen breakage due to tangles, while enhancing color. It also keeps hair shiny and resilient, and prevents color from being lost. Use it once weekly by applying it to your hair and combing it through with a wide-tooth comb. Leave it on for five minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.
Enhance With Shine Enrich
When color starts to fade, the fading often begins at the tips, or ends, of your hair. This happens when you get split ends and the color begins to be stripped from the innermost layer of your hair. You can fight this tendency by using Color Extend Shine Enrich daily. It prevents split ends and controls wispy flyaway hairs, generating a sleek look. It also contains the fade-resistant formula and shine components that are present throughout the Color Extend line. Pour a small amount (about the size of a dime) into your palm. Rub your hands together and apply the serum first to your ends, then gradually work your way up to your hair's roots. Comb through and style as desired.
Shampooing and Conditioning
Using all of the aforementioned products with Color Extend's Shampoo and Conditioner will yield better results than using another brand for hair washing with items from the Color Extend line. The majority of retail haircare products available today work best when used within their product line. Similar shampoos and conditioners are not guaranteed by the makers of Color Extend to yield the same color-enhancing results promised when used with Redken's proprietary color-protecting formula. Each ingredient in the line was created to reinforce the effects of the others. If choosing Color Extend to maintain your hair color, using the products in tandem can keep your hair vibrant.
