Molasses is an ingredient you think of when you think of gingersnap cookies, not when it comes to conditioning your hair. Molasses is actually chock full of potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron and copper, all of which are good for you and your hair. Putting straight molasses on your hair would be pretty messy, not to mention sticky, so you need to make a hair conditioner with molasses and a few other ingredients from your kitchen, grocery store or natural health food store.

1.

Mix together 1/4 cup molasses and 1/4 cup olive oil.

2.

Combine the molasses mixture with 1/4 cup deep conditioner.

3.

Apply the conditioner to your hair from roots to tips and cover your hair with a plastic shower cap.

4.

Warm a towel in the dryer and wrap it around your head. The heat from the towel helps open the hair cuticle, allowing the conditioner to penetrate deeper.

5.

Leave the molasses treatment in hair for up to 2 hours and then rinse thoroughly. Wash with a mild shampoo and use conditioner if desired.
