What Type of Shampoo to Use for Normal Hair?

Normal hair should only be washed every two or three days.

Just because you have normal hair doesn't mean you should use just any old shampoo. If your hair has a little natural curl, you use a lot of styling products. If you're African-American, then your hair has special needs that a run-of-the-mill shampoo might not be supplying.

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo

This Aveda shampoo is a fabulous daily shampoo for normal, straight hair types. It cleanses well without stripping moisture. Rosemary and mint are a great combination that stimulates your scalp and really wakes you up in the morning. When you use this shampoo, let it sit on your scalp for a minute before you rinse it off. Stimulating the scalp helps increase blood flow, which in turn nourishes your hair. Not to mention the aromatherapy benefits of inhaling this heavenly scent.

Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Shampoo

If you have normal hair with natural curls this is a great shampoo to keep those curls in tip-top shape. Curly hair is prone to drying out easily, so you need to reach for a shampoo that can blast your hair with enough moisture to avoid the frizzies. This shampoo has loads of natural-oil moisturizers that will be easily absorbed by the hair, but won't weigh your hair down.

Fekkai Glossing Shampoo

African-American women with normal, curly hair types need a shampoo that will keep their natural curls looking fabulous. The Fekkai glossing shampoo acts as both a cleanser and shine enhancer that will really make your curls glow. Sometimes our daily styling routine takes its toll on our hair and makes it look a bit dull. This shampoo glosses up those curls with each shampoo and makes your hair look instantly healthier.

Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo

A good anti-residue shampoo should be in every girl's shower. No matter how great your shampoo or styling products are they all leave behind a signature residue that can rob your hair of shine and volume. Using an anti-residue shampoo twice a month can remove this buildup and give you back the hair you miss. When using a clarifying shampoo always leave it on for five minutes to allow the shampoo time to break down the residue so it can be washed away come rinse time.
