Two-tone hair is a hot trend. Blondes have the easiest time working this look because their hair is easy to dye. Two-tone hair can be conservative and subtle or bold and wild, depending on the colors. Whichever, a new two-tone 'do is perfect for blondes who want to shake up their style.
Blondes look great with bold, bright highlights. You can choose any color you want, but consider a neon pink or blue. Neon is of-the-moment and a sexy choice for blondes. Kari Hill, a Los Angeles-based colorist, advises using clip-in hair extensions if you aren't ready to commit to a dye job. "Place it under a layer of hair to conceal it," Hill says. The more clip-ins you use or the more sections of hair you dye, the more attention-grabbing your look will be.
Two-tone hair doesn't have to be an enormous statement-making style. Just choose a natural, contrasting tone if you work in a conservative office, or if bright colors aren't your style. Still, if you apply only one dark shade of dye at the roots, you might end up looking like you let your roots grow out. Instead, apply a dark dye to the roots and gradate it so the dye fades into a lighter blonde at the tips. This looks intentional and chic.
Face Framing Highlights
A smart way to play up your features is to highlight sections of hair that frame your face. This is a great look if your hair is layered around your cheekbones and chin. You can choose an unexpected bright pop of color such as purple or green, or opt for a lighter or darker shade of blonde. This style looks great when your hair is down, but is extra pretty when pulled back into a pony tail.
Half and Half
A half-and-half dye job is only for the bravest, boldest blondes. With hair parted straight down the middle, dye half your hair a different color. Singers Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj have both sported blonde hair dyed only on one side. Lady Gaga chose to dye half her hair a dark gray, while Minaj chose lavender. For a look this extreme, use a temporary dye to gauge how you like the look before committing to permanent dye. The half-and-half look is fabulous for scenesters and club-goers.
