Just because turquoise and blue are in similar color families doesn’t mean that they can’t be worn together. It would seem that fashion-model-turned-television-personality Heidi Klum agrees, as she recently wore a turquoise and blue jean combination on the red carpet. In fact, an aquamarine top and designer denim can be a chic outfit for many fashionable occasions -- from weekend boutique-crawling to a night out on the town with the girls.
British Influence
For that classic jean outfit, channel a little bit of British style by pairing an oxford shirt with slim-fit jeans -- perfect for a weekend in the English countryside. Select a crisp light turquoise button-up and well-fitting designer denim trousers. Top off the ensemble with a corduroy blazer -- you know, the one with the suede patches on the elbows. And you can’t go wrong with a pair of butterscotch leather Wellingtons, as the calf-grazing boots are both chic and comfortable.
Urban Appeal
If classic-chic isn’t your shtick, try a look with a lot more urban appeal. Select a lightweight turquoise sweater that is embellished with a design or metal studding. Pair the contemporary top with medium blue distressed jeans, featuring a bit of strategic shredding in the thigh and lower leg area. Cropped jeans or pedal pushers can be a great way to flaunt your calves, and you can define your midsection by slinging a metal chain belt around hip-level. Slip on a pair of open-toe booties in a cool graphite color to finish the outfit.
Night Ready
Want an outfit that can transition from day to night? Try combining a bright turquoise tank top with low-rise jeans. Select an iridescent knit top -- perfect for a hint of glamour -- and pair it with mid-tone skinny jeans. Designer denim with studding or embroidery can lend a high-fashion appearance to the tank, and the outfit can be further upgraded with a white leather blazer. Feel free to add shiny baubles and footwear, such as a couple of dangling gold necklaces and a pair of metallic strappy sandals.
Urban Sophisticate
Jeans can also be part of a more sophisticated ensemble -- especially when they are a straight-leg cornflower blue variety. Get a cosmopolitan look by matching the denim with a blue-green silk charmeuse blouse (let’s say, one with a bowed neckline). Slip on a boucle tweed box-cut jacket -- selecting one that is reminiscent of Chanel -- and don a couple pearl necklaces for an elegant effect. Finish the look with a pair of beige pointy-toe pumps.
