Do you have an old T-shirt that just sits in your closet unused? Don't throw it away just yet! If you've got basic sewing skills, you can turn that old shirt into a cute new vest. Celebrities everywhere, including Nicky Hilton, Katie Holmes and Fergie, have rocked a vest at one time or another. So, pair your homemade vest with your favorite outfit and get ready to impress people with your fashion sense and your craftiness!

Cut the sleeves and the collar off the shirt. Make sure to cut the seams off with the sleeves. What you're left with at this point may look scary and ratty, but keep going and you'll make it polished.

Turn the shirt inside out and cut the front of it open straight down the middle, from the collar area to the hem. You should now have a basic vest with raw edges.

Fold over all the raw edges of the shirt (including the collar and arm holes) 1/4 inch and iron the folds down. Do you see your cute new accessory taking shape?

Fold over the raw edges 1/4 inch more and sew the folds in place. You've just transformed an old piece of clothing into something cute and useful!
